EC may declare poll dates for 5 states on Dec 23

Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur, Punjab and Goa are scheduled to go to polls early next year.

New Delhi: The Election Commission will announce the dates for Assembly Elections on December 23, as per reports.

According to Zee News sources the announcement will for all the five states to be held in the early next year.

Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur, Punjab and Goa are scheduled to go to polls. As per experts, elections in these states are being seen as a prelude to the national elections.

All eyes are especially on UP where there is said to be a tough fight between parties like the Congress, BSP and the Samajwadi Party.

With Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi going all out against Mayawati led BSP and the UP CM in a counter-attack mode, the days ahead is expected to be filled with hectic political activities. It is also been analysed that a lot is at stake for top political leaders in the upcoming Assembly Elections, like Rahul Gandhi, Mayawati, Nitin Gadkari and Mualayam Singh Yadav.
