New Delhi: Enforcement Directorate has
approached the UK authorities seeking financial details about
an island in Scotland `gifted` to Yoga guru Ramdev by a
The Little Cumbrae Island, off the fishing town of
Largs in Scotland, serves as Ramdev`s base overseas and also
as a wellness centre.
The Directorate has asked the authorities in the
United Kingdom (UK) to help it with the documentation and
funding related aspects of the island which was gifted to
Ramdev by a couple who is among his ardent followers.
The communication to UK is in connection with the
money trail of the island, ED sources said.
The Directorate`s probe is aimed at checking the flow
of money and transactions through various trusts floated by
Ramdev including the Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust, Divya Yoga
Mandir Trust and Bharat Swabhiman Trust.
The agency, after completing the probe, may decide to
formally register a case under the provisions of the Foreign
Exchange Management Act (FEMA) or the stringent Prevention of
Money Laundering Act (PMLA), if findings show anything
unlawful, they said.
ED has earlier also asked the Registrar of Companies
(RoC) to obtain details of companies related to Ramdev.
Meanwhile, Ramdev`s close aide Balkrishna, who
allegedly used fake educational degrees for procuring a
passport, was today questioned by the CBI in Dehradun.
