Varanasi: Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar has dubbed corruption as the "biggest threat" that the nation faces and said that everyone must come forward to weed it out.
"Corruption is the biggest threat to the nation and everyone has to come forward to stop it," she told reporters yesterday as she stopped here on her way to her constituency Sasaram.
She expressed hope that the government will take definite steps to address this menace.
Kumar also termed as "unfortunate" the wash out of the entire Winter Session of Parliament by the Opposition that wanted a joint parliamentary committee probe into the 2G spectrum allocation.
It hurts when the dignity of parliament is lowered, especially when the conduct of senior leaders is not in accordance with that dignity, she said.
However, all parties have felt that there were problems in the constitutional process when the session ended without transacting any substantial business, she said.
Kumar said the Indian parliamentary system was considered as the best in the world and hoped that the Opposition will cooperate in conducting a smooth budget session.
