Ex-Guj minister Amit Shah hospitalised

Former Gujarat minister Amit Shah, arrested in the fake encounter case of Soharabuddin Sheikh, was admitted to City Civil Hospital Wednesday after he complained of uneasiness.

"Shah has been admitted to G-6 ward of the City Civil
Hospital," Sabarmati jail officials said.

Shah was to be produced before the special CBI court here
through video conferencing facility today on completion of his
judicial custody period.

However, CBI informed the special court judge A Y Dave
that as Shah has been admitted to the civil hospital, he could
not be produced before the court.

Judge Dave extended his judicial custody till September
29.

Shah was earlier admitted to the civil hospital after he
had complained of chest pain on August 31 and was discharged
after seven days.

Shah has been give special permission by the court to
appear through video conferencing on security grounds.

Shah, a close aide of Gujarat chief Minister Narendra
Modi, has been described by the CBI as the "kingpin" of the
entire conspiracy leading to the November 26, 2005 encounter
of Sohrabuddin, killing of his wife Kausar Bi and also Tulsi
Prajapati, a key witness.
