Ahmedabad: The pilot and tout arrested here on charges of fudging documents to get license, had been expelled from a local flying club for 'incompetency' some years ago, the club's general manager said.

Hiren Nagar (27) and Eknath Patil were arrested yesterday in Ahmedabad by a Delhi Police Crime Branch team.

"Nagar registered with us in 2005, but was very poor in grasping lessons in flying. Due to bad performance we had to withdraw him only after eight hours of flying (in the same year)," Ahmedabad Aviation and Aeronautics Ltd (AAAL) General Manager Lt Col V K Nagar said.

"We told Nagar that becoming a pilot was not a suitable career for you," he said adding that Nagar then left and joined a flying club in Ujjain.

"He had cleared only one paper out of the five in the flying examination conducted by Director General Civil Aviation (DGCA), but managed to obtain a fake mark-sheet," Nagar said.

After repeated failures to procure flying license, Hiren came in contact with Eknath Patil (46), who also had a stint at AAAL , and managed to obtain a fake mark-sheet.

"Patil, who was previously working as senior flight supervisor, had joined our club in 2000. His services were terminated in 2002, after the students complained about his non-performance to us," Nagar said.
