New Delhi: Apprehending that they could be vulnerable to cyber crime, judges of the Supreme Court have withdrawn details of their personal bank accounts from the official website, Chief Justice of India KG Balakrishnan said on Sunday.

"Judges of Supreme Court published details of the assets on the website. Some of the judges gave their bank account (details). Within a week I got a letter from a person (asking us) please do not disclose your bank account (as) within days your entire money will be taken by somebody else.

"So it is very easy to take money from your personal accounts using all these computer technology... sometimes some fraudulent bank people will also join with them so we will be losers!" he said while inaugurating the "Cyber Law Enforcement Programme and National Consultation Meeting" here.

He said after receipt of the letter, the information was removed from the Supreme Court websites and it was also suggested to judges to change their account details.

Amidst mounting public demand, judges of the Supreme Court had earlier taken a decision to display details of their assets on the official website.
