New Delhi: The first CBI officer to get
trained at the FBI National Academy in the US 17-years-ago
today took over the charge of Additional Director of the
agency.
V K Gupta, a Gujarat cadre IPS officer of 1977 batch
took over as Additional Director in the Central Bureau of
Investigation, CBI spokesperson Harsh Bhal said.
Before joining CBI, he was Additional Secretary in the
Central Vigilance Commission, New Delhi.
He said Gupta, a post-graduate in science and also a law
graduate, had earlier held several positions in CBI from 1990
to 1998 including the post of DIG (Anti-corruption) and
Superintendent of Police.
"Gupta has been associated with the investigations of
a number of sensitive cases, entrusted to CBI by the Supreme
Court and High Courts that ended in convictions of the accused
persons," the same statement said.
