Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government today
told the Allahabad High Court that it has given approval for
filing of FIRs against officers and employees found guilty in
the multi-crore food grain scam which took place in the state
during 2002-2007.

During hearing of a PIL seeking CBI probe into the
scam, Government counsel H P Srivastava also informed the high
court that the Special Investigating Team (SIT) and the
Economic Offence Wing (EOW) are conducting probes in a total
of 14 districts of the state.

The court fixed September 17 as the next date of
hearing.

The food grain scam had surfaced in at least 31
districts of the state and those meant for distribution to the
poor people either free of cost or at highly subsidised rates
were allegedly illegally diverted out of the state and in some
cases, out of the country as well by forging documents.
