New Delhi: French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius on Friday called his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj and discussed cooperation in key areas including defence and civil nuclear field.
Fabius congratulated Swaraj on the victory and assumption of charge as External Affairs Minister, the Spokesperson in the MEA said.
Reaffirming India-France Strategic Partnership, the two leaders focused on strengthening defence, nuclear and space cooperation.
Swaraj invited him to visit India for which dates would be finalised through diplomatic channels, the Spokesperson said.
After taking charge of the ministry on Wednesday, Swaraj has received congratulatory calls from US Secretary of State John Kerry and her other counterparts from Australia, Canada, Israel, UAE, UK and South Africa.
