Srinagar: Separatist leader Syed Ali Shah
Geelani today appealed to the Secretary General of the United
Nations Ban Ki Moon to use his good offices to resolve Kashmir
issue without further loss of lives and time.

"I appeal you to use your good offices to resolve Kashmir
issue as per the wishes of people of Kashmir in a democratic
manner without further loss of life and wasting time", Geelani
said in an e-mail communication to Moon.

Geelani, who was detained by police when he tried to defy
restrictions imposed on his movement since yesterday, said,
"UN has miserably failed to recognise and give credit to the
people of Jammu and Kashmir for their democratic aspirations
and faith in the world body. This institution has not taken
any concrete step to implement its own resolutions on Kashmir
and neither has it helped occupied Kashmiri people".
