Govt formation: Narendra Modi runs the show from Gujarat Bhawan

4:10 pm "We met Narendra Modi and highlighted our problems for the budget, he responded positively. We will surely be giving him (Modi) issue based support and expect cooperation," said Jaganmohan Reddy after meeting the PM-designate.

3:20 pm Jaganmohan Reddy meets Narendra Modi.

1:45 pm Vinod Khanna reaches Gujarat Bhawan to meet Narendra Modi. The actor-turned-politician won the Lok Sabha poll from Gurdaspur against Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa.

1 pm Ahead of his meeting with Narendra Modi, Jaganmohan Reddy said, “We are here to represent our state through Modi ji, hope that he takes a sympathetic view of our situation. Modi ji doesn`t need anyone’s support, but we will give him issue based support.”

12:30 pm After meeting party president Rajnath Singh at his residence, Sushma Swaraj has reached Gujarat Bhawan to meet Narendra Modi. She had earlier met the RSS top brass.

Meanwhile, Arun Jaitley is meeting Rajnath Singh. Jaitley had a long discussion with Modi and Amit Shah today morning.

12:20 pm Senior BJP leader from Uttar Pradesh Vinay Katiyar reaches RSS office in Jhandewalan.

12:15 pm Kalyan Singh reaches Gujarat Bhawan to meet Narendra Modi. The former chief minister of UP and leading light of the Ayodhya movement had not contested the Lok Sabha elections. His son Rajveer Singh contested from Etah and won.

12:01 pm Suhsma Swaraj met Rajnath Singh at his residence. The Leader of Opposition in the outgoing Lok Sabha is expected to get an important portfolio in the new cabinet.

11:40 The BJP parliamentary party meet is scheduled for 11:30 tomorrow. All BJP CMs and senior NDA leaders would be present during the meeting when Modi will be formally declared as the NDA`s choice to be the next Prime Minister of India.

11:10 am Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray will meet Narendra Modi tomorrow. The Sena-BJP led `Mahayuti` alliance swept Maharashtra by winning 43 of the 48 seats in the state.

11:05 am YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy is in Delhi with his 9 MPs. Though he has lost out to the TDP-BJP combine in Sandhra Pradesh, Jagan is said to be keen to provide outside support to the NDA government.

He may meet Modi at Gujarat Bhawan in presence of Rajnath Singh.

11:01 am Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has reached RSS office in Delhi. She had met Modi yesterday with her recommendations for cabinet berths. Raje has a strong case as the BJP has bagged all 25 Lok Sabha seats in her state.
10: 30 am Amit Shah and Arun Jaitley meet Narendra Modi at Gujarat Bhawan, Rajnath Singh expected to join in.

10:16 am Najma Heptullah, Uma Bharti, Satyapal Singh, Shahnawaz Hussain also make a dash for Rajnath`s residence as lobbying for cabinet berths intensifies.

While Bharti and Singh, both giant slayers, may stand a fair chance, given the need to give adequate representation to Uttar Pradesh, it is Hussain who is facing trouble after having lost from Bhagalpur.

He was earlier considered a sure face in the Modi cabinet but given Modi`s reluectance to only chose from those who have won, the Muslim quota seat may go to party`s Rajya Sabha MP Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.

Najma Heptullah may also be suitably accommodated in the new government, however, it remains to be seen whether she gets a ministerial assignment.

10:02 am Senior party leader from Bihar CP Thakur and Varun Gandhi make an early morning visit to Rajnath Singh`s residence.
Yesterday too there was a flurry of activity in the BJP circles with the fulcrum being Gujarat Bhavan in Delhi where Modi is staying ahead of government formation.

Several top leaders including Rajnath Singh, Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje, JP Nadda, Ananth Kumar, Dharmendra Pradhan, BS Yeddyurappa met Modi at Gujarat Bhavan.

Modi also drove to the residences of party seniors LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi, apparently, to discuss government formation and, possibly, also their role in the new dispensation.

Many BJP leaders also dropped in at the RSS office in central Delhi. Notable among them were Sushma Swaraj, Venkaiah Naidu, Gopinath Munde and Rajiv Pratap Rudy.

Allaince partners Ram Vilas Paswan and Naga People`s Front Neiphiu Rio also made courtesy visits to Gujarat Bhawan.

The date for the swearing-in will be announced after the BJP parliamentary party formally elects him its leader tomorrow.

Narendra Modi is expected to take oath on May 24, which is Ekadashi, a holy day in Hindu calendar.

A dozen-odd ministers are expected to be sworn in that day. The cabinet will be expanded later, possibly on June 2 or 3.
