Govt implementing Sachar panel recommendations

New Delhi: Government has accepted 73
recommendation of Sachar Committee and 72 of these are being
implemented by various ministries and department, Minority
Affairs Ministry said on Thursday.
In written reply to a question in House, Minister of State
in Minorities Affairs Vincent Pala said, "Out of the 76
recommendations of the Sachar Committee, government has
accepted 73 of them. 72 recommendations are being implemented
by various ministries and departments."

One recommendation was deferred and the implementation of
all others are being monitored by the Minority Affairs
Ministry on a quarterly basis, he said.

Appointed in 2005, Sachar committee, headed by former
Chief Justice of Delhi High Court Rajinder Sachar, was
commissioned to prepare a report on latest social, economic
and educational condition of the Muslim community of India.
The committee prepared a report of 403 pages and
presented it in the Lok Sabha November 2006.

On vocational training scheme run by National Minorities
Development and Finance Corporation (NMDFC), the Minister
said, "The vocational training by NMDFC is meant for both
males and females of the minority community. However, on an
average, 50 per cent of the beneficiaries are women."

In 2011-12, NMDFC has sanctioned exclusive vocational
training for 900 women of minority community from Kerala and
Jammu and Kashmir.

Pala said the Ministry has finalised a special scheme for
leadership development of minority women in the 11th Five Year
Plan and 30 per cent of scholarship in pre-matric and
post-matric allowance schemes are earmarked for girls
belonging to the minority community.
