New Delhi: In an effort to enable OBCs in 14 states to avail benefits of reservation in central government services, the government today approved the inclusion of names of some castes and communities in the central list of other backward castes.

A meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh accepted the proposal of the National Commission for Backward Classes to amend the central list of OBCs.

The states where OBCs will benefit are Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Goa, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal and Union Territories of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Puducherry.

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment will now have to notify the amendments.

DHARM PAL BHATIA - NOIDA

Indian citizen has been again hit by self centered politicians for their greed for uninturpetted power. Indian constitution is being fooled regularly by increasing reservations. They are only taking care of their vote-banks. No capable and efficient citizen has space for justified rewards.

It would be nice to have a quota for general people (non BC/OBC/ABCD etc) too right?
