Udaipur: Social activist Aruna Roy on Saturday said the Union government's policy on Aadhar Card scheme was not clear.

The government had not called any meeting to discuss the suggestions given by the stakeholders with regard to the scheme, she told reporters here.

The government's policy on the scheme was not clear, the social activist said.

In the absence of a well-defined policy and guidelines, there was a possibility of the misuse of information collected by the government for this scheme, Roy said.

The social activist was in the town to address a seminar on the role of the youth in democracy organised by an NGO.

this is not new participants, legal authorities nominated or otherwise are left aside when some thing fishy is to be cooked. Aruna is more familiar with such actions, so she should not be hurt with such gimmicks

Ms. Aruna is abolutely right. In absence policy and guidelines such schemes do not fulfill the intended (so-called for the purpose of publicity) benefits. Apart from clear policy and guidelines, there must be massive awareness campaign for such programmes. I do not see sufficient initiatives for even the preparation of the cards. Even in major cities there is no drive to prepare such cards. The concept of Aadhar card is excellent, but there does not appear to be enough will to take this programme to its logical conclusion. In the absence of will and sincerity the fate of this programme may also be just for hype during election campaign.
