On Board Special Aircraft: Backing Centre's efforts to tackle corruption, President Pratibha Patil on Thursday said the government was sincere in passing the Jan Lokpal Bill.

"Definitely, that is the best way. And it should happen that way. I feel so," Patil said on board Air India One special aircraft, while returning from an eight-day State Visit to Switzerland and Austria.

President was responding to a question about whether the fight against corruption should be led by parliamentary democracy.

"Government of India is taking a lot of measures. The Bill is before the House and the government is very sincere in passing the Lokpal Bill and bringing it into force," she said.

"There is no doubt about it," the President added.

A lot of other measures are being taken, she said, citing the example of RTI.

President said that "despite such a big country, India is implementing RTI, which is very important thing."

She also talked about the Amending Protocol to Double Taxation Treaty inked with Switzerland recently.

"India is very keen on it... I took up the issue with Switzerland also. So all measures which are necessary to curb corruption and combat corruption, the government of India taking and that is why India is actively considering becoming a member of International Anti-corruption Academy," she said.

Congress has taken Voters for granted. They think after dividing in the name of Religion and Caste, they can win even after they do Corruptions. But Indians are Qualified and Intelligent as projected worldwide. Congress Failed to Divide Indians in the name of Religion and Caste against ANNA HAZARE. Now Congress must take step back and ask Forgiveness from Team Anna and say Sorry to all Indians and Support The Jan Lokpal Bill. If Congress Passes The Jan Lokpal Bill, they can regain the lost confidence among their Voters.

Annaji is 100% Right. Had Congress brought the bill on time, pass the bill on time, other Parties will not benefit. Today, Congress is in power. It is in majority. If they decide, they can Pass the Jan Lokpal Bill and take credit for them.

The President has stooped to a very low level. She has become a Congress spokes person. May be Congress can replace her in the place of the disgraced Manish Tiwari. Shame on the nation.

The hon`ble president should not speak political language. Congress is not interested in passing jan lokpal bill. The people of indian need the system which should prevent the parliamentarians and Ministers from indulging into corruption. Whomsoever is found involved in the corruption should be punished with enforcing tough law in time bound manner. This is the main requirement of the People of India.
