Jaipur, Feb 15: Eagerly awaited magnum opus, `Jodhaa Akbar` released all over the nation today weathering the intensive protests in Rajasthan and at a few places in UP. Ashutosh Gowariker, the director of grand epic ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ in the meanwhile has furnished an apology to Karni Sena, the association that had called for its ban. Inspite of this the Karni Sena has rejected the apology.
The Karni Sena spokesperson told Zee News, "A mere piece of paper is not enough and the problem cannot be sorted out lest the makers of Jodhaa Akbar come down to Jaipur for a one to one chat for a posiible solution."
Previously the cinema hall owners in Rajasthan had decided against screening `Jodhaa Akbar`, amid aggressive protests by Rajput groups against "distortion of historical facts" in the film, releasing today.
Activists of the Karni Sena had written letters in blood earlier this week against the film`s release and submitted it to theatre owners, while Bollywood distributors were trying to persuade them to call off their stir at the last minute.
Karni Sena patron Lokendra Kalvi had said they would not stop the film, but the Vasundhara Raje government would be held "responsible" if any untoward incidents occurred. He also added that it was not a trivial matter for them. Citing an example he also said, "Can Aishwarya ever play Amitabh`s wife in a movie... the same way Jodhaa cannot be portrayed as Akbar`s wife as she was his daughter-in-law."
The Rajasthan High Court had on Wednesday dismissed a petition seeking restraining orders against leaders of Rajput Sabha and Karni Sena, but asked the government to ensure law and order.
It is still to be seen whether the movie will see the light of the day in Rajasthan in the near future or not.
