Gunbattle in J&K’s Ramban; 3 militants holed up

Jammu: A fierce gunbattle broke out on Tuesday between top Lashkar-e-Toiba militants and security forces near the Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Ramban district where three militants are holed up.

Acting on a tip-off, police and Army troops launched a cordon and search operation close to the highway at Manjote-Nachlana belt, 150 kms from here, Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Ramban-Doda-Kishtwar range, Maneesh Sinha said.

A fierce gunbattle broke out between the militants and the security forces, which was going on when the reports last came in, he said.

Three militants are holed up in the area, he said.

As per the reports, top Lashkar-e-Toiba commander Kari Zubair is also holed up in the gunfight.
