Haji Mastan`s son opposes release of film, moves HC

Alleged smuggler late Haji Mastan`s son has moved the Bombay High Court seeking a stay on the release of the film `Once Upon A Time in Mumbai` on the ground that it defames his father.

Mumbai: Alleged smuggler late Haji Mastan`s
son has moved the Bombay High Court seeking a stay on the
release of the film `Once Upon A Time in Mumbai` on the ground
that it defames his father.

Earlier, a lower court had disposed of the application
filed by Mastan`s son Sundar Shekhar alias Suleiman Mirzha by
directing the producers of the film to add a disclaimer in the
beginning of the film stating that it was not based on
Mastan`s life.

But Mirzha has sought a preview of the film before the
release in his petition in the High Court so that if there are
any defamatory scenes, he can take objection.

The film, produced by Ekta Kapoor-headed Balaji
Telefilms, is slated for release on June 30.
The High Court is expected to hear the petition tomorrow.
