Shimoga: A local court on Monday adjourned till May 20 hearing of an application by CID seeking permission to conduct DNA test and voice test on former Karnataka minister H Halappa, facing charges of rape and criminal intimidation.

Judicial Magistrate Ravikanth adjourned the hearing when the case came up before him.

Halappa is facing allegations of raping his friend's wife Chandravathi in November. Chandravathi alleged that he had raped her in their house and later threatened her and her family.

Halappa, currently under judicial custody, has been undergoing treatment in a hospital in Bangalore.

Narmadabai further said the Apex Court, while handing over probe in the Sohrabuddin case to CBI had asked the agency to investigate if there was a larger conspiracy in the killing.

Thus, CID ought to wait for its decision on her plea for CBI probe into the killing of Tulsi in 2006.

CBI, probing the Sohrabuddin case in March had sought papers of Tulsi Prajapati case from the state police, saying his encounter was linked with that of Sohrabuddin.

However, the state police had denied handing over the document saying that SC had given only mandate of Sohrabuddin case to CBI and this case was being investigated by state CID crime.
