Hazare ridicules Digvijay over RSS links

Ahmednagar: Dismissing Digvijay Singh's statement that he had links with late RSS leader Nanaji Deshmukh, Anna Hazare today said that such allegations were being levelled against him by "supporters of corruption" as they had no other issue to raise.

"The allegations prove that supporters of corruption in India have no valid issues left," he told PTI. The Gandhian said social leaders like Deshmukh were above political ideologies, and selfish party and power politics.

"If there is a picture of mine with Nanaji, does it mean that the country does not need the Jan Lokpal Bill and there is no need to tackle corruption by ministers and political leaders," the 74-year-old activist asked.

Earlier in the day, Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh had claimed that Hazare had once worked as a secretary with Deshmukh. The Congress leader also referred to a picture to support his remarks

"Anna Hazare worked as secretary with RSS leader Nanaji Deshmukh and (got himself) trained in (sangh activities) in 1983 in Gonda. See Nai Duniya front page today," Singh today wrote on micro-blogging site Twitter.

"And he denied any association with RSS! Now whom do we believe Facts with Picture and the claim of RSS or Anna ? I am again proved right," he tweeted. Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal said such allegations were part of Congress' "tactics" to divert attention from the Lokpal Bill.

"Congress government is targeting Anna unnecessarily by spreading such rumours. Even former president Abdul Kalam and Digvijay Singh have been photographed with Deshmukh," Kejriwal said. He was addressing the media at the MMRDA grounds in suburban Mumbai where Hazare will be sitting on fast from December 27. "What is the mistake of Anna Hazare? That he is raising his voice against corruption? He has got medals from the Army," Kejriwal said, adding wrong message was being spread against the anti-corruption crusader. Hitting out at the UPA government, Kejriwal said "the government is provoking us by saying Anna is an RSS agent,".

During the UPA Govt from time to time Congress has been using CBI and other govt. bodies for party’s own interest. As per the PM’s inclusion under the Lokpal is concerned, Congress has history that some of its people who served PM had allegations of corruption and irregularity. So Anna’s demand to bring CBI and PM under Lokpal creates a big embarrassment for the party. And also it fears the popularity of Annaji. So, it wants to show Anna as a communal force or a political person so that the minority will part ways from Anna and Congress can save its minority vote bank. Mr Digvijay Singh’s mouth is the “Testing Lab of Statement for Congress Party”. At first he gives a statement and the party observes the people’s reaction. If people accepts the statement then Congress approves it as party’s statement and otherwise it is termed as a personal statement of Mr. Diggy.

who are these RSS people. they seem to be very good. anti-nationalists, bribe-takers all seem to target RSS. what sort of organisation is this RSS? if anna hazare is RSS i too would like to join RSS.

Is it an issue to be associated with LOKPAL? I am not connected to any left right ideology but i have profound respect for persons who are nationalists,patriots and who work for the betterment of the masses.It is a matter of great honour to be associated with a great man like Late SHRI NANA JI DESHMUKKH.These congress leaders are indulging in dirty politics lowering further already existing low standard of politics.This country needs and wants A STRONG LOKPAL and it is the duty and responsibility of all political parties and all politicians to ensure that A STRONG LOKPAL COMES IN TO EXISTENCE INSTEAD OF COMING OUT WITH UNWANTED AND IRRELEVENT RUMOURS.This shows that politicians do not want removal of corruption from this country to serve their own ends.Thanks
