HC grants interim anticipatory bail to Vice Chairman of BCI

Madras HC granted interim anticipatory bail to Vice Chairman of BCI R Dhanpal Raj in connection with a bribery case for granting affiliation to a law college.

Chennai: The Madras High Court on Tuesday
granted interim anticipatory bail to Vice Chairman of Bar
Council of India (BCI) R Dhanpal Raj in connection with a
bribery case for granting affiliation to a law college based
in Ghaziabad.

CBI had conducted searches in the houses of Raj and one
of his relative in connection with the case today

The search was conducted after the arrest of Rajendra
Singh Rana, member of the BCI along with another person
yesterday at New Delhi for allegedly taking bribe for granting
affiliation to the college.

The CBI had issued summons to Raj asking him to appear
before it at the national capital tomorrow.

Granting interim anticiapatory bail to him for four
weeks, Justice Aruna Jagadeesan directed him to furnish two
securities of Rs 50,000 each and present before CBI whenever
they request.
