HC seeks NRHM records from state govt

The bench directed the state government to submit record regarding the grant of contract to the private firm mentioned in the petition.

Lucknow: Amid charges of a massive scam
in Uttar Pradesh in the National Rural Health Mission, the
Allahabad High Court on Thursday directed the state government to
submit audit report and records regarding grant of contract
under the scheme.

The bench comprising Justice Prdaeep Kant and Justice
Ritu Raj Awasthi of the Lucknow bench of the high court while
passing the order on a PIL seeking direction for a CBI probe
into the alleged scam in NRHM fixed August 4 as the next date
of hearing.

The bench directed the state government to submit
record regarding the grant of contract to the private firm
mentioned in the petition.

The court has also summoned records relating to the
contracts which have been awarded for supplying of medicine
kit etc and the construction and also the decision to give the
work to UPSIC and the manner in which the agency has further
awarded the contracts should be submitted before it on the
next date of hearing.

The bench also ordered production of audit report
conducted by the state as well as the Centre, if any, for the
period commencing 2006-07, 2007-08 onwards.

Appearing on behalf of the state government Additional
Advocate General Jaideep Narain Mathur produced the case
diaries relating to the NRHM irregularities in Lucknow.

According to the case diary, during the course of
investigation, the investigating officer has not found any
irregularity in the NRHM office at Lucknow or with any other
office in the state.
