Coimbatore: Joining issue with AIADMK leader
J Jayalalithaa over the court verdict on the lawyers-police
clash, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today said
neither he nor his government could be held responsible for
the February 19 incident.
The court had not passed any stricture or order against
the Government and state chief minister and it was not
appropriate for her to hold them responsible for the clash,
Karunanidhi told reporters here.
The Chief Minister was reacting to Jayalalithaa`s
criticism of the ruling DMK for "not implementing" last week`s
court directions asking the government to take disciplinary
action against four top police officials indicted for the
clash in the court premises.
Karunanidhi reminded Jayalalithaa that she was silent
when the court had passed orders against her on numerous
occasions in the past.
