Thiruvananthapuram: The long history of non-violence in the country has to be explored further as this section was not properly documented, feels Upinder Singh, daughter of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

"So much has been written on violence in history, but the non-violence part has not been properly documented," she said, delivering a lecture on 'Unwritten histories' at the Hay festival, which concluded here today.

Singh, a professor of history at University of Delhi, has written on various aspects of ancient Indian social, economic, religious and cultural history.

Her works include 'Ancient Delhi', 'The Discovery of Ancient India: Early Archaeologist and the Beginnings of Archaeology' and 'A History of Ancient and Early Medieval India: from the Stone Age to the 12th century."
