Shillong: Thirty officers of the Eastern Air
Command on Thursday began a six month management course with the IIM
Shillong to enable them to enhance the management skills and
competence to meet the future challenges.
Called the ‘Sustainable Airport Infrastructure Building
and Project Management’, the programme aims at empowering the
air warriors with rich source of knowledge and enhancement of
skills.
Shillong IIM Dean S Shahjahan said the certificate
course would enhance the vision of the officers and their core
competence, besides promoting green building concept.
Emphasizing the need to integrate the innovative ideas
from different fields to maximize the output, Shahjahan said
it is essential to harness the untapped military leadership
for the overall growth of the nation.
‘World class infrastructure is key to global competitive
economy. The course will expose the officers to the world’s
best practices. It will provide a series of practice oriented
management development and leadership oriented programmes,’ he
said.
Experts will be brought in from abroad for the
training.
Aerospace management and strategic war planning,
crisis disaster management, financial planning management,
facilities management and HRD, sports and hospitality
management, communication and system management, physical
security and low intensity conflict management, cyber security
and cyber warfare will be a part of the course.
Inaugurating the course, EAC Air Officer
Commanding-in-Chief Air Marshal KK Nohwar said the course
would go a long way in benefiting the officers.
The results would spur the IIM to get more officers
for such courses. It will give a management blend to strategic
war thinking, he said.
The course is a 15 credit Executive Education
Programme (EEP) which is equivalent to 450 hrs of theory cum
project learning module.
