New Delhi: A senior most faculty member of IIT-Kharagpur, facing charges of fraud, has been placed under suspension, officials said here Tuesday.
Amit Kumar Ghosh, head of the department of aeronautical engineering at IIT-Kgp was accused of running an engineering institute outside the IIT campus and demanding exorbitant fee from students seeking admission in that college.
The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development had recently initiated a probe against Ghosh to ascertain whether he had taken permission from the IIT to run his private institute.
The matter came into light after some students of his engineering institute wrote to IIT-Kgp director Damodar Acharya complaining that Ghosh had taken steep fees from each
student for admission into his college.
