New Delhi: A suspected Indian Mujahideen operative, allegedly involved in the Jama Masjid shootout here and a bomb blast at Chinnaswamy stadium in Banaglore, was Monday denied bail by a court, which also asked Delhi police to complete its probe against him by November 19.
Additional Sessions Judge Kaveri Baweja rejected the bail plea of alleged IM module Kamaal Hassan, who had sought the relief contending that the Special Cell of Delhi police was yet to file charge sheet against him despite lapse of over 90 days since his arrest.
On police plea for more time to probe the case, it was granted time till November 19 to complete it.
Hassan`s counsel M S Khan, meanwhile, said he would challenge the matter in the high court as the police has been seeking extension of probe period on the same ground for past 90 days and is yet to file the charge sheet.
The police had told the court that it is yet to obtain sanction for Hassan`s prosecution and that they are yet to arrest Yasin Bhatkal and Riyaz Bhatkal, the IM chiefs.
"The bail plea is rejected. Having regard to the submissions made and grounds stated, the investigating agency is granted time till November 19 for completing the investigation as prayed," the ASJ said.
Hassan was arrested by the Bangalore ATS early this year, along with co-accused Kafil Akhtar, for their roles in Chinnaswamy stadium blast. He has been booked for various offences under the IPC including waging war against India and also under the Explosive Substances Act and the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.
The duo were then handed over to Delhi Police as they were wanted in the Jama Masjid shootout case and for running an arms factory in Meer Vihar here.
Prior to the arrest of Hassan and Akhtar, a total of 13 IM men -- Mohd Irshad Khan, Asadullah Rehman, Mohd Adil, Bashir Hasan, Abdul Rehman, Mohd Kafil, Mohd Quateel Siddiqui, Gauhar Aziz, Gayur Ahmed, Mohd Aftab Alam and Tariq Anjum Ahsan and Mohd Shakeel were arrested by the Delhi Police for their alleged role in various terror strikes across country.
Of the 15, Quateel Siddiqui died in Pune jail when he was in custody of Pune ATS.
