Mumbai: Taking potshots at MNS chief Raj
Thackeray for his anti-north Indian campaign, senior BJP
leader Yashwant Sinha on Tuesday said no outsider in Bihar has been
asked to learn Hindi.
"When outsiders come to Bihar, no one asks them to
learn Hindi," Sinha told a function organised by Bihar
Foundation here Monday night.
Without taking any names, Sinha said, "Biharis have
spread all over the world, but they do not have a parochial
attitude. It is difficult to find a more generous heart than
that of the people of Bihar. This is because we adopt others.
We accept others".
Raj Thackeray has been at the front of an anti-north
Indian campaign and had recently asked taxi drivers from Bihar
and Uttar Pradesh to be conversant in Marathi or return home.
Referring to arrival of outsiders in Bihar to work in
industries in the state after Independence, Sinha said,
"Biharis never ask from where have you come?"
"They don't ask you to learn Hindi," he said, adding
"today, such broad-minded attitude is needed".
"If states like Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra are
progressing, it is also due to contribution and money of
Biharis," Sinha said.
On the number of Biharis in Mumbai, the BJP leader
said, "I recently went to a film studio where most workers
were from Bihar."
