New Delhi: The government on Thursday approved
inclusion of more ministries in the governing council and
executive committee of SSA as well as in the executive
committee of RMSA respectively to ensure better convergence
and coordination between these two programmes.
The Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) and the Rashtriya
Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan (RMSA) programmes aim to universalise
elementary education and expanding and improving the standards
of secondary education.
"The governing council of SSA will now comprise
Ministries of Tribal Affairs, Rural Development, Minority
Affairs, Panchayati Raj, Youth and Sports Affairs and Ministry
of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER)," I&B Minister
Ambika Soni told reporters after the Union Cabinet today
approved reconstitutions.
The representation from these ministries will be at
the level of Ministers of State.
Soni said the executive committee of SSA will comprise
the Ministries of Women and Child Development, Social Justice
and Empowerment, Tribal Affairs, Rural Development, Minority
Affairs, Panchayati Raj, Youth Affairs and Sports and DoNER.
Representation from these ministries will be at the
level of secretary.
The executive committee of RMSA, under the
reconstitution exercise, will now comprise Ministries of Women
and Child Development, Rural Development and DoNER.
