Ind-Pak S/F: PM, Sonia, Rahul arrive in Chandigarh

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, along with Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul, on Wednesday arrived in Chandigarh to watch the cricket World Cup semi-final between India and Pakistan at Mohali.

Chandigarh: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, along with Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul, on Wednesday arrived in Chandigarh to watch the cricket World Cup semi-final between India and Pakistan at Mohali.

The three will now travel by road straight to Punjab Cricket Association`s
stadium at Mohali, where PM Singh will welcome his Pakistani counterpart Yousuf Raza Gilani, who is also in India to watch the big clash.

PM Singh, who had invited Gilani to watch the match, will arrive at the stadium before the Pak PM, with whom he is scheduled to hold bilateral talks later in the evening

Ahead of leaving Islamabad, Gilani, who also arrived in Chandigarh this afternoon, in his goodwill message to the people of India and Pakistan said that both nations should enjoy cricket.

“The idea behind my visit to Mohali is to promote cricket and friendship with India,” Gilani said.
