New Delhi: Government on Saturday said internet hackers will continue to attack the country`s cyber networks but asserted that India was "adequately prepared" to deal with such threats.

"It will be foolishness to think that such cyber attacks will not happen in the future. It is for us to be prepared and take adequate measures...So, on that aspect, India is adequately prepared," Minister of State for Defence MM Pallam Raju told reporters on the sidelines of an event here.

He was asked to comment on the recent reported attacks on computer networks of the National Security Council and several other top military leaders by Chinese hackers.

Raju added that with the high-level technology available with nations, "it is understandable and it is to be expected that nations will try to hack into the secure systems of other nations."

Asked about reports suggesting that China had an "army" of internet hackers, the Minister said, "what makes you think that we don`t have a cyber army."

On steps taken by the Government to deal with the hacking attempts, Raju said counter-measures were in place to deal with such situations and "one doesn`t have to fear about the preparedness of the nation."

He added that a road map has been laid down for the
armed forces also to secure their communication and various
other networks.
