Riyadh: A three-year-old Indian boy died after being run over by a vehicle in Saudi Arabia`s Makkah province, according to a media report on Tuesday.

Zayan Rahman, from Karnataka, fell from his school bus while it was still in motion on Sunday and was run over by another vehicle. He died on the spot.

"My son was returning home on board a bus belonging to a private school," said Ziaur Rahman, Zayan`s father.
The death triggered demands from Indian parents to consider establishing community schools like in other cities, the Arab News reported. The parents said such schools are safer for their children.

Makkah, which is witnessing massive infrastructural and development projects, is home to thousands of Indian expatriates.

Rahman, who works for a leading construction company, said finding schools for children of the Indian community is a major problem.
"I have lost my only son but hope to guarantee the safety of other children of my community," he said.
