Indian, Chinese armies celebrate R-Day

Srinagar: A border personnel meeting was
held between armies of India and China at Chushul in Ladakh
region of Jammu and Kashmir Wednesday to celebrate the Republic
Day.

The Chinese side, led by Senior Colonel Fan Jun, was
received by Brigadier Y K Joshi, the spokesman said.

He said both sides agreed to maintain peace, stability
and tranquility in the region in consonance with the Border
Peace and Tranquility Agreement.

At the end of the meeting both delegations saluted
the tricolor and the Chinese delegation was escorted back to
the Line of Actual Control," the spokesman said.

India and China signed the Peace and Tranquility
Agreement in 1993 and Confidence Building Measures in 1996.
Border personnel meetings in Eastern Ladakh sector are
held six times a year between Indian and Chinese military
delegations.
