Indian national held with weapon in Bangladesh

Niten Pal was a helper of an Indian truck that entered Bangladesh’s Panama Port link area carrying imported maize.

Dhaka: An Indian national was arrested with a weapon and three bullets from Bangladesh`s northwestern Dinajpur frontiers, officials claimed on Sunday.

Mainul Islam, the Superintendent of Police of Dinajpur, said the Indian national identified himself as Niten Pal. He said that 40-year-old Pal was a helper of an Indian truck that entered Bangladesh’s Panama Port link area carrying imported maize.

A police official said the custom authority challenged Niten due to his "suspicious behaviour".

The official said he "tried to run away...the people in the neighbourhood and employees of the custom house chased and eventually caught him".

A shutter gun and three bullets were recovered from Niten`s bag, he claimed.
