India`s Haj seat quota raised by 10,000

Saudi Arabia has announced an additional quota of 10,000 Haj devotees for India.



New Delhi: Saudi Arabia has announced an additional quota of 10,000 Haj devotees for India.
"The entire lot of these 10,000 seats have been transferred to Haj Committee of India, Mumbai," the External Affairs Ministry said on Thursday.
"The seats will be distributed to the states/Union Territories that have received applications in excess of the originally allotted quota on the basis of the proportionate Muslim population of the state/Union Territories concerned," the ministry said.
