Info on Sonia run trusts be made public: BJP

BJP on Monday demanded that UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi disclose all information about the trusts headed by her as has been done by yoga guru Ramdev.

Dehradun: BJP on Monday demanded that UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi disclose all information about the trusts headed by her as has been done by yoga guru Ramdev.

"After doubts were raised by Congress leaders about the assets and funds received by the trusts run by Ramdev, he made all information regarding them public. Now it is the turn of Sonia Gandhi to make information public about the trusts she is heading," BJP general secretary and in charge of party affairs in Uttarakhand Thavar Chandra Gehlot told reporters here.

He said Gandhi is heading over a dozen trusts including the Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust and she should tell people where the funds are received from and where they go.
Describing as "unfortunate and undemocratic" the police action on Ramdev and his followers at Ramlila ground on the night of June 4, Gehlot claimed that the forcible eviction was a political decision rather than an administrative one.

He said the UPA chairperson, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Home Minister P Chidambaram should apologise to Ramdev and the entire nation for the action.

Gehlot alleged that Congress tried to crush Ramdev`s agitation as the party was feeling uncomfortable on the issues of checking corruption and bringing back blackmoney from foreign banks.

"The Centre is not willing to bring black money back and it seems that Congress leaders and their well wishers have their money deposited in foreign banks," he alleged.
