Chennai: The Home Ministry on Friday told the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Tribunal here that its information indicated the banned Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) continued to be a threat to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country.

In an affidavit filed before the Tribunal, Director of Internal Security RK Suman said the Central Government had information that indicated that LTTE continued to be a threat to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country.

LTTE continued to look at Tamil Nadu as a platform for its anti-India activities, he said.

The two-day hearing of the Tribunal to decide on the validity of the ban commenced here today.
