Chennai: Bringing two of the country's top business families together, software major Infosys chief mentor N R Narayana Murthy's son Rohan on Sunday entered into wedlock with Lakshmi Venu of the TVS group.
Rohan Murthy (28) is a Microsoft fellow, pursuing PhD in computer science from Harvard University and Lakshmi (27) is daughter of the country's second largest two-wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor Company chairman Venu Srinivasan. The star-studded event was attended by senior BJP leader LK Advani, Union Ministers P Chidambaram, Kamal Nath, Anand Sharma and G K Vasan besides top corporate honchos.
Infosys former chairman and Unique Identification Development Authority of India president Nandhan Nilekani, Air Deccan founder-chairman Captain G R Gopinath and Godrej group chairman Adi Godrej were among the guests.
About 100-150 priests from the hill shrine of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam rendered "sthothrams" to bless the couple. At the stroke of 10.15 am, Rohan tied the 'mangalsutra' around Lakshmi's neck at the ceremony held at the house of A Ananthakrishnan Iyer, father of late business magnate and Rs 7,000 crore Amalgamations Group chairman A Sivasailam. Rohan was seen dressed in a silk sherwani and Lakshmi looked resplendent in a red saree. Tight security was in place at the venue and the media was kept at bay.
