Mumbai: Union Minister of State for
Communication and IT Sachin Pilot on Sunday said that the internal
elections in Youth Congress and NSUI were the vision of AICC
general secretary Rahul Gandhi, which will go a long way in
strengthening the party.
"These elections are a vision of AICC General Secretary
Rahul Gandhi which will go a long way in strengthening the
party. Several leaders thrown up from the elections in other
states have gone on to become MPs and MLAs in other states,"
said Pilot after kickstarting the membership drive ahead of
the elections in Mumbai unit of the Youth Congress here.
Congress MPs Priya Dutt and Deepender Hooda, who is the
Pradesh Returning Officer(PRO) for the elections, Mumbai
Congress president Kripashankar Singh, Maharashtra Textile
Minister Naseem Khan, MLAs Baba Siddique, Krishna Hegde,
hailing from Mumbai North Central Parliamentary constituency
were also present.
"All youth leaders from Ward, Assembly, Parliamentary
constituency and District will be appointed through a
transparent election process," Hooda said.
"Youth from the Congress, professionals who are non
political and youth from other parties who are willing to
follow the Congress ideology can participate in this
election," he added.
"The Congress party has given the youth of Mumbai a
chance to empower themselves and provide a dynamic
leadership," Priya Dutt said.
