IT Dept seeks Rs 1.5 crore in tax from suspended IAS officer

IT Department sources said that as per the assessment order passed against Rajora last week, he will also have to give explanation about `undisclosed and unexplained` income of Rs 5.21 crore.

Bhopal: The Income Tax Department has
assessed the total taxable income of suspended IAS officer
Rajesh Rajora, facing corruption charges, at Rs 5.21 crore and
fixed a tax liability of Rs 1.5 crore against him.

IT Department sources said that as per the assessment
order passed against Rajora last week, he will also have to
give explanation about `undisclosed and unexplained` income of
Rs 5.21 crore.

The Income Tax Department had raided the residences of
Rajora and some other officials of the state Health Department
in May 2008.

Rajora was suspended in February 2010 for contravening
the All India Service (Conduct) Rules 1968, following an
inquiry.
