Hyderabad: Union Petroleum Minister S Jaipal Reddy's statement that he does not believe in regionalism and sub-regionalism, drew flak from BJP, which said that his statements indicate that Congress does not favour separate Telangana.

National spokesperson of BJP, Rajiv Pratap Rudy on Sunday said Reddy’s statements clearly indicated that Congress was not in favour of separate statehood for Telangana region.

"Reddy, who has a distinction of working in different political parties, has categorically said that he does not believe in regionalism and sub-regionalism, which indicates that the Congress party was not in favour of smaller states and against the creation of separate Telangana state," Rudy told reporters here.

He also claimed that BJP is the only national party, which is always in favour of smaller states for better administration and governance.

He also alleged that the Congress was trying to communalise the corruption issues raised by Baba Ramdev and social activist Anna Hazare.

"The party welcomes the decision of Baba Ramdev, who called off his fast," he said adding that his party would extend support to the Yoga guru, who launched agitation against the corruption in the UPA government and demanding the black money kept in foreign banks, to be brought back to India.
