Jodhpur: A missing girl, who had allegedly eloped with a 22-year-old youth two months ago, was rescued today, police said. The police swung into action after a Rajasthan High Court order on a habeas corpus petition filed by the girl`s father.

According to the police, the girl, who had eloped with one Amit Kumar (22) from Patiala, was traced to Jammu and Kashmir. Both of them were brought her and will be produced in a local court. The girl had left home on April 20 on the instance of Amit, whom she befriended on social networking website Facebook, and had not returned ever since.

The girl`s father filed a missing complaint in this connection following which police probed the matter. Initially, Amit was traced to New Delhi after tracking his mobile signals, a police official said, adding that later he could not be traced. The father of the girl then moved the court to file a habeas corpus petition on May 25, after which the police formed a fresh team to search the girl. Acting on a tip off, police traced the couple in Jammu and Kashmir, where they were detained from a mall, the official added.
