New Delhi: The government on Friday got support
from an unexpected quarter on the Indo-Pak issue with CPI
saying the joint statement will help India win international
support.

"We support the government`s stand on the issue," CPI MP
Gurudas Dasgupta said.

"It (Joint statement) is a tactical statement. It will
enable India to win international support and public and world
opinion," he said.

CPI leader D Raja said resumption of dialogue with
Pakistan was a "necessity".

"It is not a shift in our foreign policy. Both countries
have to engage in a meaningful dialogue. Resumption of
dialogue between India and Pakistan is a necessity."

He said the joint statement was not a sell out the
country`s national interests.
