Kottayam: Influential outfits of Nair and Ezhava communities of Kerala have hailed formation of the NDA government at the Centre led by Narendra Modi after securing a clear mandate in the Lok Sabha polls.
The latest issue of the official journal of the Nair Service Society (NSS) said assumption of power by Modi has boosted the expectations of the people across the country under a stable regime at the Centre.
"Modi has proved his administrative abilities by leading the government in Gujarat marked by a style of functioning of his own. So, the mandate secured by him could be considered as recognition of his abilities by people," NSS` Malayalam fortnightly "Service" said in an editorial comment.
"Yoganadam", the mouthpiece of Ezhava community`s socio-cultural outfit Sree Naryayanda Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam, also lavished praises on Modi.
In its editorial, Yoganadam termed as the "first goal" of the new government the presence of SAARC leaders including Pakistan Prime Minister Nawas Sherif at its installation.
Recalling the bitter campaign unleashed by rivals against Modi, it said he can now be really proud of the victory he has clinched overcoming all hurdles on his path.
The Nair and Ezhava communities together form the largest chunk of the Hindu fold in Kerala. Both the NSS and SNDP Yogam have an extensive network of units across the state and run several educational institutions.
Though overtly non-political, these outfits have often lobbied with both the Congress-led UDF and the CPI(M)-led LDF to secure their interests.
The NSS, however, has kept a safe distance from the BJP.
The SNDP Yogam leader Vellpally Natesan, however, shared platform with Modi a few months back at a function organised by Kerala Pulayar Mahasabha in Kochi.
