Minister Narendra Modi `Convenient Action - Gujarat`s Response
To Challenges of Climate Change` was released here today by
former President A P J Abdul Kalam and TERI director-general R
After former US Vice-President and Nobel laureate
Al-Gore, Modi became the second political leader to write a
book on climate change, said an official of Macmillan
Publishers India Ltd, which published the book.
"I have always believed in complimentary relationship
between human and nature. As per our Vedas, this relationship
is like mother (nature) and son (humans)," Modi said at the
book release function.
The book is an humble attempt to document steps taken by
his government to meet the challenges of climate change, he
said adding "Gujarat is the first state in the country which
has established a department of climate change."
Modi said in his book that he has tried to give simple
solutions to the problem of climate change which have been
implemented by Gujarat government.
Stresseing on the need for concept of "climate justice",
Modi said future generations will have to pay for the action`s
of this generation.
"I am neither an expert on climate change nor a
professional writer but I have written from the core of my
heart," he said.
Kalam praised the initiative of Modi and asked the
Chief Minister to take steps to make Gujarat the
carbon-neutral state of India
