KD Tripathi appointed new CVC secretary

Kapil Dev Tripathi, a 1980 batch IAS officer of Assam-Manipur cadre, has taken over as secretary in the Central Vigilance Commission.

batch IAS officer of Assam-Manipur cadre, has taken over as
secretary in the Central Vigilance Commission.

Tripathi`s name was recently cleared by the
Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) and he took over the
new charge on May 4, a CVC official said.

The post was lying vacant for over a month following
superannuation of K S Ramasubban, a 1976 batch West Bengal
cadre IAS officer, on March 31.

Incidentally, Tripathi is one batch junior to
Additional Secretary Anil Kumar Sinha in the Commission. Sinha
is an IPS officer of Bihar cadre.

The CVC is an independent body, which advises the
Government on vigilance-related matters and check corruption
in various departments, among others. It is also probing
several scams, including cases relating to Commonwealth Games.
