Kejriwal’s cheque to PM an insult: Congress Zeenews Bureau

New Delhi: The Congress leadership has severely criticised Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal for writing a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and enclosing a cheque of Rs nine lakh in response to a notice from the I-T department regarding dues pending on him.

Terming Kejriwal’s letter as an insult to Prime Minister’s Office, Congress spokesman Rashid Alvi said he should have addressed his letter to some senior I-T officer and not to the Prime Minister.

"Kejriwal writing his letter to Prime Minister is insulting his office. I don't know what designation Kejriwal held when he was in service. He should have written to his immediate superior officer in government who would have been the competent authority to take note of it," Alvi told reporters.

In his reaction to the development, Alvi said the former revenue officer should have shown more sincerity in dealing with the matter. The reaction from the Congress party came a day after Kejriwal complained to the Prime Minister, in a letter, that he had been wrongly slapped with a recovery notice of Rs 9.27 lakh by the tax authorities.

The noted RTI activist also enclosed a cheque for the Rs 9,27,787 and said he was depositing it "under protest". In his letter, Kejriwal also requested the Prime Minister that his government should not deal harshly with those people who have given him loan to return the money.

Taking a dig at former police officer Kiran Bedi, Alvi also said that she may also write to the Prime Minister after returning the excess amount she had taken from the NGOs as her travel expenses.

Attacking Anna Hazare, the Congress leader said, “The noted Gandhian would have taken his vow of silence to avoid uncomfortable questions over controversies surrounding some of his team members. “

"One of the team members says there should be a plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir, the other travels in economy class but charges additional amount from NGOs, and the third declares an individual is above Constitution. It is indeed difficult to answer questions on these issues," Alvi was quoted as saying.

Mr Singh has no personal respect or disrespect. It is the matter affecting the family who are behind him to act on the way they want him to be.

The PM should understand the situation and should instruct his party persons and ministers not to be indulged in bad practices but should work constructively to curb corruption any how for national interest. The recovery of the amount even if genuine is not for larger interest. other than benefir to his party.

Kejriwal behaviour and attitude is really very wrong...he should remember that he was, he is and he will be nothing if he is ousted from team Anna...Of late he has started behaving very arrogant and his latest act is indeed a very bad gesture against our elected government and in particular our PM....he should not forget that in India the Post of the PM is very high and it should be respected after all the other countries are also looking at us...Kejriwal should not forget that he is an ordinary citizen like us and he should have send the cheque to the concerned department...What the hell PMO has to do with this ordinary cheque...He should not forget that this is the cheque of penalty for his wrong doings and not for any PM relief fund....Kejriwal is an arrogant man, the success has gone into his mind and he should be kicked out from Team Anna so that other members who are more deserving , honest and capable come to the front seat at the time of any discussion with the government and whlie press conference...

Elected government????????? is our prime minister is elected ????????And when the CWG, 2G, and many other happened , at that time other country was not looking at us.This elected government is for doing corruptions only this fool prime minister does not have any resposibility towards these scam.If any one speak about corruption then he is arogent?????Do u remember RTI act this is the true effort of kejriwal. He send his resigination to PMO as earlier IT department told him that his file has been seen by PMO. that, s why he addresses his concern to PMO.Pm post is high , I fully agree but responsibility is equally highi , and u r not aware of that. U people have elected this government for buying MP,s for no confident motions???????.

HE IS GOVERNMENT OFFICER. HE WILL NOT GET SLEEP IF HE DO ANY GOVERNMENT RELATED WORK WITHOUT TAKING BRIBE. HIS DAY START WITH BRIBE AND END WITH BRIBES. SO JAN LOKPAL BILL FOR HIM IS LIKE A DEATH SENTENCE. JAI HIND.

I think we need the system in place where the last person in our system (common man) should be able to interact and place his view to his prime minister and we are fighting for that system, then only we can have real democracy

Yes...yes It is realy insult to congress and UPA. Is this an amount to offer ? only some thousands crore and above should be offered. Mr.Kejrival should know that 7,00,000 are the only amount that those VVIP expenses for their desertation after heavy lunch at public expense. nd over are

The action of Mr. Kejariwal is highly objectionable & UNCALLED FOR. IT IS HIGHLY LAMENTABLE THAT A MAN WHO IS ANNA`S FORE MOST MAN DOES NOT KNOW EVEN PROPER DECORUM IN DEALING WITH P.M.OFFICE,WHICH IS NOT AT ALL CONCERNED WITH THIS CASE.!!..

v.krishnan - chennai
why is the congress spoken getting perturbed and expressing his anguish. Why is the P.M. silent on many issues ? The nation wants an answer not silence.
