Thrissur (Ker): In yet another embarrassment to
the National Human Rights Commission Chairman, Justice K G
Balakrishnan, the survey department here has confirmed that
his son-in-law, P V Sreenijan, had encroached 32 cents of
government land at Kalloor in Thrissur.
Officials of the survey department had surveyed the land
under dispute recently and confirmed that 32 cents in
Sreenijan`s possession was government land, Mukundapuram
Tahsildar, Joy John, said.
The land situated is at Kalloor (Vadakkumuri) of the
Mukundapuram Taluk under survey Nos 2075, 2076 and 2077.
The survey department had sent a report to the revenue
department in this regard and it has issued orders to the
Irrigation department to get Sreenijan evicted from the land,
Joy John said.
The land was surveyed following a complaint from human
rights activist, George Vattukulam, to the Tahsildar and the
Executive Engineer (Irrigation) in February last.
There have been allegations of corruption and amassment of
wealth disproportionate to their known sources of income
against the former Chief Justice of India`s two sons-in-law
and younger brother.
