Kolkata: The Maoists have for the first time admitted that Kishenji's death has dealt a heavy blow to their organisation and called upon the youth to join the outfit.

Kishenji, a CPI (Maoist) central committee member, was killed in an armed encounter with the Joint Forces in Jangalmahal on November 24, last year.

In a release circulated among some TV channels, the CPI (Maoist) central committee said that Kishenji's killing in Jangalmahal had come as a ''a great blow'' to the organisation and appealed to the youth to join the outfit ''to fulfil Kishenji's cherished dream''.

The central committee asked its state unit in West Bengal to initiate efforts to draw more youth to the organisation.
