Krishna calls on Afghan First VP

India and Afghanistan discussed key international, regional and bilateral issues.

New Delhi: India and Afghanistan on Thursday discussed key international, regional and bilateral issues when External Affairs Minister SM Krishna called on the First Vice President of Afghanistan Marshal Mohammed Qasim Fahim who arrived here on Thursday.

The two leaders are also understood to have discussed the recent developments and the security situation in the region.

The visit "is in continuation of the regular high-level exchanges between India and Afghanistan and is a reflection of the close and friendly relations between the two countries," a release by External Affairs Ministry said here.

Besides meeting Vice President Md Hamid Ansari, Marshal Fahim would also call on President Pratibha Patil and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

National Security Adviser would be calling on the First Vice President of Afghanistan, it said.
